are you trying to get an icu job?? I assume so otherwise you would not be asking this question. First get and read as many books on icu nursing as you can..that'll give you an idea of what's involved. ICU is a very in- depth kind of nursing to put it lightly! AACN has some very good texts ie, Critical Care Nursing, which gives a very good overview of topics you'll need to learn. Then start looking for a hospital that is hiring nurses without icu experience who have a very very good and lengthy orientation program. A requiement for working in any icu is having a desire to learn so if you are looking for a challenging spot you've hit the right place. good luck.

    hi

ICU patients are held for up to 24 hours in the Any hospitals it would be very helpful to have ICU experience for those pts as we are doing invasive hemodynamic monitoring and following ICU protocols/standing orders for these pts in the hospital. Many of the nurses aren't comfortable/don't have experience caring for these pts and have a hard time with it.
