Unhappy New nurse, can't find a job

I'm an LPN licensed in PA for about a year now and the job search has been tough. I live in Wilmington, DE but I'd drive just about anywhere in PA at this point. I never imagined that there'd be a time where nurses can't find jobs. Even RN's are having trouble and that worries me since I'm only LPN. I have tried everywhere: hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, home health (even though that's a long shot) I've even spoken to DON's directly. And no I'm not picky I will work the worse schedule if that's all that's available. I just don't know what else to do. It's discouraging when you can't use something you've worked hard and paid into. It seems like it comes down to who is willing to work with a nurse with no experience and that's really no one unless you can pull strings. I got really close to a Nursing Supervisor but her DON wouldn't approve. I don't know what would help at this point. Any feedback, or anyone in PA willing to work with me? lol
    Thanks

You are not the only one who have this problem. The nursing population is continuously increasing since it is one of the most in demand courses around the globe, however, opportunities are decreasing because hospitals and even huge companies have implemented strict rules for nurse applicants. Of course, everybody wants to wear nursing uniform, but nowadays you have to be patient and wait for the luck to come. Don't worry, you'll find a job in no time, just be patient.

It took me 3-4 months after I left homecare to find a cna position with a local nursing home. I just kept applying and applying..and checking back. It stinks but eventually something comes up. Good luck and happy applying Have you tried well a cna postion until something comes a long as an LPN? I mean no wants to go under there qualifications but until something better comes along..better than nothing.

My friends and I are in the same situation! Got our licenses in September, applied everywhere, nobody even called us for an interview, to give us a chance, to meet with us! Tried to volunteer, but apparently you need connections even for this, and it is a long waiting list! Well, we keep applying , and hoping!

It's really hard for the new grad to get hired nowadays, plus the hospitals and other facilities are not that supportive!
