As a new nurse, I was excited to have the opportunity to work in the ICU soon after graduation. I quickly learned about the physical, mental and emotional challenges that my fellow, more experienced nursing colleagues deal with day and night. Working at a county hospital, with a primarily uninsured patient population, only compounded my frustrations early on. Seeing families that could not afford medical insurance and could potentially suffer as a consequence was a reality I was not taught in nursing school.
A very heartwarming story...I'm just so glad that i'm a nurse, since I have the chance and opportunity to influence one's life in a positive way!Looking forward for my next duty=)
Beautiful story. I once witnessed a young man, probably in his late 30's or early 40's who came in as a cardiac arrest. He had been outside playing tag football with his family when all of a sudden his heart just stopped. I was able to witness the doctor's unbelievable drive to prevent this young mans death. He worked him for much longer than the standard and just refused to call it. Suddenly, it all paid off and his heart started beating again. Thanks to this amazing doctor, this man is back to enjoying those Sunday afternoon football games in the front yard with his family.
At the end of shift, smiling is a way of happiness,
smile because your time inside the hospital is not wasted because you know that you had helped someone
I smile because I had touch the life of other person
talked with them and laugh with them inspite of their diseases..
there are lots of reasons to smile
