Hi Everyone,
I am a diploma graduate with 15 years of experience. I have a B.A. in biology. With the new trends
in nursing I have thougt about getting my B.S.N. but I really have no motivation to do so.
I like bedside nursing and have no desire to become a manager.
Here is my question- Does my B.A. in biology hold value in Magnet Status.
For those of you who are working in a Magnet hospital Do they encourage you to get your B.S.N.?
Are they offering to pay 100%? When they look at credentials for Magnet Status is my B.A, acceptable?
Are your hospital only hiring B.S.N. nursing?
I don't have much information about your BA and Magnet Status, however, there certainly is a trend to recognize bachelors degrees outside of nursing as a positive. Many hospitals are realizing that a well rounded nurse can be many things- science and business- science and psych- science and sociology. The combinations are endless and they all contribute to better critical thinking and more opportunity to be a good fit for patient care even at the bedside.
