I am interviewing for a position on a peds floor at a large hospital this week and I am interested in any advice I can get. I graduated with a bsN in may 2009, and I have one year of med/surg experience. Peds is the area I want to be in (specifically NICU...but I'll take what I can get at this point). I've been told I'm going to meet with "top performers" from each shift, then the nurse managers. So here is what I want to know:
If you were interviewing a new hire candidate, what questions would you ask? (these can be general interview questions or perhaps situational/behavioral questions specifically related to a pediatric med/surg floor)
first of all i want to say i am new at this, meaning i have never replied to anyone on line before. nor am i experienced with typing.i am a peds rn. you can tell them several things.you are eager to learn new things. you love children. you can use play therapy with the kids. you are a great team player.you do not hesitate to ask questions if you are unsure of anything.tell them if you have been involved with group activities like girl scouts or any coaching of sports team.talk about your strong points with involvement with children, ie younger siblings,nieces/nephews,babysitting or any nanny work. does this help?
