I have published a book of my 35 yr. nursing career called "Memories of a Nurse". It was available in 2008 and I have had a couple Book-Signings and sold some by word-of-mouth. I have had a Web Site for a year and that has done basically nothing. I need help with marketing my book. Do you have any thoughts?

    Default Publishing/marketing advice

    Hi Sally,

There are a number of ways you can approach this issue. As your book is written from the perspective of a successful career, you may want to contact nursing schools and university hospitals and offer to do a short presentation/Q&A session for students along with a book signing. Contact local media and see if they would like to do a story on a local author. Contact your own nursing school/alumni association and the healthcare facilities you worked in and that are mentioned in the book. Ask if they would like to host a book signing or perhaps feature you in any of their own internal/external publications.

For gaining more traffic to your website, you might want to think about having an SEO writer (search engine optimization) give you some feedback as to how you can improve your site's ranking in search engines to help garner a greater audience.

You also might want to enter your book in some book award contests. One that comes to mind is the Independent Publisher Book Awards. Do some google searches to find contests appropriate for your book.

    Hope this advice helps!
