loans are out of the question for me- I filed and am in what FASFA calls "active bankruptcy" following a divorce and a job loss ( I have 3 more years to pay on the bankruptcy). Bankruptcy is lenghty to explain but not difficult to understand. There are various forms of bankruptcy- depending on the person filing-some are for institutions, some forms are for individuals. Some forms are what is called liquididation( they take everything to pay off all your debt) some forms are called restructuring(these are where you still get to keep your property, and you pay off your total debt monthly over a certain period of time) everyone's debt falls into catagories- dischargeable and non dischargable- student loans are non dischargable- which means you must pay then off no matter what. companies cannot contact you when you are in bankruptcy unless you ask them to- ie. your servicor on your car loan cannot send you a monthly statement unless you request they do. you pay a trustee a set fee, the trustee determines you should pay and the trustee pays your behind debts off in monthly installments, the trustee is appointed by the US FEDERAL bankruptcy court- you go for 2 sessions prior to your bankruptcy confirmation hearing before a US Federal Judge( bankruptcy is not a state matter it is a federal matter) during one of these pre- confirmation hearings the trustee mandates you have 2 jobs to pay this debt off(which is why I was working 2 jobs) if you miss any of your payments to anyone- trustee /bankruptcy arrearages, current mortgage, car etc, your bankruptcy is cancelled and then the federal court takes everything. Student loans(which i took out for my oldest daughter to get her college education) are put on hold(as far as payments go) but they are not discharged- i will have to pay them off. I was working my butt of to pay off this bankruptcy and comply with the federal judge's ruling- 2 jobs, which is why I took the fulltime temporary Dept of Health position, which paid way more than the hospital bedside perdeim job I was terminated from- because my petty, s----y, mentally ill nurse manager at the per deim job was p----d I had a full time position. she felt I was not at her beckon and call, free to cancel me 2-3 months at a time and the fact that it was for the DOH. When i say this jerk had had ones ,I mean "big" ones! defying a federal judge's order.( her coach purse and mercedes. In the words of one of my former co-workers back in the day- "God doesn't like ugly," I hope she was right!! ) So, no, loans are not possible for me. So for me it's back to square one- asking unemployment for a raise or the poppyseed bagel idea. Talk about nurse prison.(what some nurses used to call the med/surg floors I worked on, again back in the day)) This is why i want out of nursing- the beavior of that nurse manager had made me so violently ill, and loose all respect for the profession. It really is time for me to get out. Thanks for the thought.

Nowadays nursing jobs are getting good popularity in USA and its other cities and states. Apart from this, some other obs in Indiana getting popularity are healthcare, IT, banking etc. One can send their resume online to different organizations and find jobs of their choice.
I am a nursing student and I have a year left in school. This information is alarming to me in that I want to be able to find a job right after graduation. I may have to accept a lower level position and not have my dream job right away. I want to be able to be independent and move out of my parents house. I will have to adjust my future plans unless the job market takes a change within the next year. How long do you think it will take the job market to return to normal? Are there any fields in nursing that better jobs are available?
If you've been around long enough; you know that things are all typically cyclical. However, the additional issue now confronting us all; the intended imposition of the new "health care reform." As currently intended, will have untold and unintended consequences for all affected; well beyond what anyone was able, is now able, or has yet been able to conceive of. The untold/unknown effects. Not well thought out or intended. Further considering, that hardly a soul who had signed it into law actually read it beforehand, let alone understood it. . . they are the last ones to be able explain it. It's all about control, not equity. And these legislators are primarily attorneys? How will they be affected? Did they get their waivers like so many others?
Consider the financial impact already imposed by this intended legislation on the economy (never mind we are all operating on "Fiat money" now anyway); employers wanting to eliminate any coverages (fines instituted are cheaper than providing any actual benefits); increased bureaucratic red tape/involvement; increased use of unlicensed personnel; fewer R.N.'s utilized to oversee all these unlicensed individuals; impossible work loads/conditions. Fewer resources translate to: things can/will get much worse. . .Can't happen here? Think again; already happening in Canada (patients seeking denied treatments in U.S.) and across Europe; Greece/domino effect upon the entire EU. Third world conditions could become the norm here; already exists in parts of the U.S. Ask yourself, what is "normal?" We will be expected to accept their "new norm". . .this to the detriment of the patient. One day, we will all be "the patient." Medical care is no longer being dictated by physicians and nurses. . .It's all business, run by MBA's, bean counters, and attorneys. . .
