Thread: The Cold

    Red face The Cold

Boy Howdy (as they say in Texas) It was 15 degrees in the Dallas area this a.m. I know how you folks in MI and WI feal!!!! There isn't any percipitation at all and the sun is bright and shiny but jeezz. I've got 3 pairs of long johns and have been washing them frequently. My dress boots have never been worn this mutch in any one season. One of the radio station news men called it the "Saskatchewan (sp) Shift". All I can say is THANK YOU VERY MUCH! . No one at the station could name any towns in Sask. and they asked for someone to call in if they knew one. One guy called in and named a town where he attended a horse show last summer (Regina) but that was it. If the Dallas area is 10-15 degrees (normal is 30-35), I can just imagine how cold they are.

15 degrees in Dallas? You were colder than NY today! But we got snow, only an inch or two.

I, for one, have had enough cold and snow already. Can't wait to see leaves on the trees!

Here in NE Florida, it has been going down to 26 @noc and with a wind chill on top of that.
During these events, I take the ostrich approach (hard numbers will not make me any happier) and layer up.
However, I must admit that this cold is even making my winter vests obsolete...time to bring out the big guns!!

I have managed to lose two potted palms on the patio (even the moving blankets didn't work) but I see one bright yellow pansy bravely taking on the cold in the back yard.
I don't understand why people who are thought to be weak are called "pansies'. Just doesn't add up.

It took months for my topiaries to come back after a frost last year. Right now they are bundled up and I hope they are happy!

One of the best things about this cold is that I don't have to chase my dog or cats to come in.
We are now negotiating going out!

Today I heard that some parts of England are having unusually cold weather and my friends in So. Florida are also in the chill. Cold this early in the year is very unusual for that area.
I was always "primed" to expect some nippy days in February when I lived there, and of course by noon......no problemo.

    Stay well and warm everyone!

Thank God for my wood stove! It was 15 this AM. Nothing like a nice warm fire and a good book and a cup of cocoa.

What happened to global warming? Its freezing here in the northeast. And my dad in Florida complains daily about having to turn his heat on !

Apparently Global Warming is for the summer season. Global Freezing is for the winter season.
I could do without either one, myself.

Well, It's supposed to be 'warmer" here this week. Highs in the 50's lows in the 30's. I guess our friend from Saskatchewan (sp) went home!

    Smile

It's 3 degrees here, better than the 1 degree that greeted me when I got up yesterday!

Pitchers and catchers report for spring training Feb. 18th! Warmer weather is on the way.
