Patients with type 2 diabetes can suffer a drop in cognitive functioning abilities as average blood sugar levels rise, according to a study published in the journal Diabeters Care. Researchers from Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, N.C., found that a drop in average blood glucose levels over a period of two to three months caused patients' scores to drop on four cognitive tests and#8212; psychomotor speed, global cognitive function, memory, and multiple task management.
