I to agree with you. I am enrolled at SU and am so happy-- they have gone above and beyond the expected from the admissions to the professors. I have only found professionals and extremely dedicated individuals there to assist you in all you may need. I look forward to continuing my education there. The West Palm Beach location is a brand new building and a CLASS A facility all the way around hands down!

    Default South University Review-My experience

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program at South University is designed to provide you with a solid educational foundation that may prepare you for entry into the nursing profession. The BSN program is designed for the non registered nurse student. You may complete prerequisite courses in as few as 6 quarters and then make application to enter the nursing program, which is taught throughout 7 quarters.

Hello everyone! I'm new to this site, but I have only one question. How do I quit South University without paying anything? I'm in my third week and I am finding out bad things about it. Any advice?

    Angry Transcript Bail and Switch

The same chronology of events also happened to me regarding my transcripts. They told me I was set to go and they had my transcripts from high school. They allowed me to take 2 courses and then told me a week before my 3rd course that they did not have my transcripts. Beware, they have 2 headquarters (Phoenix and Pennsylvania) which you are never privy to at first.

The first thing they do is switch up advisors so it's to appear as though the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. They then say they are going to withdraw you if you can not meet their timeline. They then try to take the monies out of your student load, and if they can't, bill you for it.

    Here's who you contact first:

FTC does not handle individual complaints, however, if there are several nationwide they will investigate. Please pass this information along so a class action lawsuit can be put together regarding fraud, theft, and any other illegal practices such as double dipping (take student monies and then charge you as well).

My complaint is solid. Remember, save those emails and telephone recordings if necessary!

Also, contact your State's Attorney, Department of Education at both the Federal and Local levels (South University Online has 2 locations. One in Phoenix and the other in Pennsylvania) and the Better Business Bureau. Contact them both by phone and email.

South University is a relative newcomer to online university education. Yet despite this, its name recognition due to the strength of its teaching and student body has quickly made South University nationally popular. South University is an institution that aims to provide various levels of academic training for a diverse student population in the southern United States and around the world. From here http://www.thedegreeexperts.com/uv-s...ersity-33.aspx you may get more information on South University.

    Default South University Review-My experience

I have attended several ground universities and taken online classes to while taking ground classes. If you are looking for an easy ride life some of these idiots that are posting reviews then don't attend. South has gone to great lengths to make it's learning environment just like a simulated class room. The instructors are available via phone and email and most of the class is in discussion format. A full time time class schedule is 2 classes for 5.5 weeks. For more information you may check this link thedegreeexperts.com/online-college.aspx

    Default wow..very wrong

First, there is a responsibility of the school to be upfront and honest and thorough. I've worked at a prominent online college and we obtained all of our students transcripts ( I managed this dept for a while), and we made sure the transcrpts were obtained in a timely fashion tht did not effect the students education b/c we told the student we would do so...wht ever happened to honesty and full disclosure! And how dare you call this persona dn others ignorant b/c they do not know all the ends and outs of how each college works...I believe you are either ignortant or work for south college and are trying to make your college look better whn the reality is tht south college lied and excluded pertinent information tht has now put this student in a really bad position. It is sad to me tht our higher education has become a cheap sales job in many cases...instead of being about the actual education its only about the money to be made off of the student! Also it is not true tht you wld have to travel to each school...again, the school who is saying tht they are going to get your transcripts for you needs to explain the ends and outs...please stop standing up for the hight pressure sales tactics these schools (if you can call them tht) are using, the schoolss need to be held accountable for wht they are saying and doing! Also, just so you know, I no longer work for a school and am not promoting or trying to bash any one school...south university is the issue of this thread so tht is the only reason I used tht name. The bottom line is there are quite a few schools out there utilizing these unethical sales tactics to lock students into their schools and they need to be stopped and should not be allowed to call themselves institutions of education. The first step is bringing into light the schools tht are operating in this fashion and I thank everyone who is doing so...keep telling your stories!

First of all, NO SCHOOL can tell you what is or is not going to transfer for sure without your official transcript review. Any school that says otherwise is either lying or guessing. So, the fact that the admissions representative did not tell you that your higher level classes could not transfer in the interview was them being professional.
Secondly, when getting a hold of your transcripts, it’s up the OTHER school to give them to the school you are transferring to. No school can control how fast or efficient another school is at sending transcripts. If you were doing it yourself, not only would you have to travel to the school but you would also be paying up to $50 per transcript! So, the fact that South did not have your transcripts after so long (and if you read your application agreement you would know this) it is ultimately YOUR responsibility to make sure the transcripts are able to be gotten! Also, if you ever went to a ground university, you would have been doing EVERYTHING yourself with little luck getting a hold of anyone if you get confused.
So, this so called “bad experience” you had was mainly caused by ignorance on your part. So, I do apologize, but your input was like telling a doctor that he did an operation wrong because recovery hurt…
If you were dissatisfied, you should have done more research or asked more questions, because it is your responsibility as a student to know what you are talking about… especially when other ignorant students are going to look at your opinion.

Thumbs down You should be absolutly ASHAMED

re: I'm new to this site and need to vent a little.

I am horrified that you were so thrilled to have supershort classes with no clinicals etc. How can you dare stand with those of us who want the best education. I for one DO NOT want my nurses to doodle their way through the program.

The school is a scam! Their degrees are from diploma mills and fake. I was assigned 5 different financial advisors since starting April 11, 2011. I was told this one quit, that was not assigned to you, thats our director, etc. Excuse after excuse as to why no one was contacting me regarding my FAFSA. Finally I demanded answers and got told I forgot my husbands income on my FAFSA application. So I refiled it. Then a week later I am being told my FAFSA was rejected, there is no proof I graduated from high school. Are you serious? Yes I am, I graduated June 3, 2000 from Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School, with a National Honor Society Sash on my gown, 4 years perfect attendance, a Certificate in Drafting, and my diploma. Now I have been searching more in detail about this school. Its a scam they are stealing our money! I have reported this school as have many many others to the Federal Trade Comission, The Better Business Bureau, The Dept. of E ducation and The General Att. Office. They went into my FAFSA changed my PIN. This is illegal and now they say I have been withdrawn but they have not done so. How professional is an email saying "consider this email as your proof we withdrew you" LOL ya real nice NO I want PROOF!

Red face South University is AMAZING!!!!!

I have been going to South University for 2 years now. I went to University of Phoenix prior to that (horrible experience there). I have a friend that works at South University and just so that everyone knows, it is a HUGE compliance violation for anyone to promise anything to you. Everyone that is posting that some admission's counselor "promised" something is very wrong. Also, the instructors there are outstanding. A few have been very tough or had a lack of a sense of humor but there are going to be annoying teachers at any school so get over it. I think another amazing thing is that they don't have any book fees! Who can complain about that? They did have book costs when I first started school there but they have completely eliminated that now with their awesome online books! The cost of tuition is far less than most online schools as well. Most online schools only tells you their tuiton costs but they dont tell you about all of their other fees. Like University of Phoenix who has a $95 fee for their books on top of their tuition being outrageous! Please check out South University Online. At least call for yourself and see what the experience is like for you. Don't listen to all of the ignorant people on this blog because most of them caused the problems for themselves! If you ask all of the right questions and you read all of the fine print then you will be in good shape. These people obviously didn't do their research and only have themselves to blame for the negative things that happened to them. I wish you all luck and I hope that you fall in love with South University like I did!
