My nurisng progam is developing a new combined pediatric and women's health course. The faculty are divided as to how to present to content in lecture. If you are a student or a faculty or a current nurse, I would love to read your feedback regarding our three options, positive or negative. We can use all input as we plan this course.
Option #1: Present content "sequentially/logically" as it occurs in real life (EX: prenatal to l/d to postpartum to neonate to pediatric content)
Option #2: Given a 4 hour lecture, devote two hours to ped and two hours to OB, so that students will have lecture content that will support clinical experiences throughout the semester.
Option #3: Mix the lecture content into "like and common themes". EX: Assessment lecture would cover assessment of neonate, l/d, postpartum, prenatal and child. The pain lecture would cover pediatric pain tools, as well as pain control during labor and postpartum, and during circumcision.
Any input you can give regarding these three options would be very helpful! Thanks in advance!
