    Default Malpractice Insurance?

Hi! I am about to transition from working in the Float Pool at a small community hospital to working for a Nursing Agency for the same hospital. In the float pool, I was covered by the hospital's malpractice insurance and never bought my own. However, I am not sure if I will be covered once I leave the hospital and go to the agency. Is it a good idea for Agency nurses to buy their own malpractice insurance? Are there any companies that people have liked buying this insurance from? How much is a good amount of coverage? (I work in adult critical care).

    Thanks!!

    Check out the following:

    http://www.nso.com

All nurses should carry their own mal-practice insurance.

Most employers cover you with malpractice insurance however, I would never work without my own.

I have bought my own for so many years....it's not funny.
However, the $90/year makes me feel comfortable.

Your employer's insurance has your employer's interest @ heart, not yours. I agree with a previous poster, and get your own from NSO. Their rates are reasonable and coverage seems to be pretty good.
