COLONOSCOPY!!!!

So call me a twit, a wimp, a princess, or whatever else you can come up with, but on 01/07, I am booked for this ugly procedure.
Unfortunately, I am emotionally and mentally ill equipped to go through this.
I will do it but it....but it will be done with my mentality "kicking and screaming" all the way.
Not no mention Monday, but I am really looking forward to Sunday as NPO except for clear liquids after 9am with the "bowel prep" to begin at 4pm.

ah, now, Paula, time to put your big girl panties on! *lol* I had this done last year and the prep is worse than the procedure. You won't feel a thing and you won't remember anything with the Versed. I hated that my favorite GI doc that I had worked with alot in the ICU got to see my old tush!!!

Well I haven't had one yet but they say this is the year (50!).... so I hear ya. I dread the thought of it. I know plenty of family and friends who have had them and they say no big deal. But hey, that's THEIR butts, not mine. LOL
I made my husband have one when he turned 50 and they found three polyps! GI doc says those frequently turn cancerous, so I was glad he did it.
Now you go and get that little peek done and tell me how it went; then I will do it too.

paula i had to have one done years ago while i was inpt with abd pain from diverticulitis.the prep and the thought of the test is worse then the actual test.i had the lovely phosposoda prep that almost made me gag and i almost couldn't keep down .and it was n't any fun having to lug iv pole and pump every 2 min with me but i did it.by early am (i was a 8am case )6am they woke me up ,now i am all exhausted from night before prep,she comes in all happy and says i need my second dose of same.i know i am cleaned out in there already i refused it the look she gave me who hoo.but she knew i was a nurse and i knew my gi doc real well.guess what i had the test don't remember anything after being told to lay on my rt side .i love versed .wokeup done and in recovery area .glad it was finished .you will be fine and good luck.

ugh! I had that phosphosoda too! I couldn't even finish getting it down but believe me, it was more than enough to do the job.
Actually, this thread is an excellent reminder to those age 50+ to have one done for screening and a baseline.

I had one scheduled for November and completely,and I swear not on purpose,forgot it.The next available appt is April 1st.Should I be worried about any procedure done on April Fools Day?
