prayers for my mom please

hi there its been rough lately.my bil dies at 56 nov 18 .we had his funeral on 23rd.barely got thru that and then my mom fell twice 26th and 28th.she broke her shoulder and ended up in rehab .she was on her way home when last wed she got very confused and had a uti.now she is in icu with urosepsis ,cva ,raf ,lll pneumonia and as if that's not enough she has a vegetation on her avr .she is very lethargic barely arousable stopped anything po and is very ill .she has a transesophageal echo today and hopefully the news doesn't get worse.its been so hard i am working fulltime,xmas ,my bil death ,etc its been a tough season .we could use the all the prayers we can get .thanks

You certainly are having your share of hardship nuangel - I am so sorry. Of course will send some prayers and positive thoughts your way. Be kind to yourself. thanks all .mom had tee todaythey don't know if its a clot ,vegetation or myxoma they see near avr.neuro wise the same.after speaking with my family ,significant other ,and my mom's dr i made mom a dnr/dni .i'm not ready yet ,i want to giv her a chance to fight but i don't want her to suffer either .its not easy .

I am so sorry. Prayers for your mother and for strength and comfort for your family.
I am a DNR; if a treatment will help me fine, but if my heart stops, let me go home.

I tried to reply this morning and I was unable to log on due to some glitch, I guess. Anyway, just as well because I read this with my coffee and apparently the caffeine hadn't hit a therapeutic level because I thought you meant she had "tea" (not realizing echo) and I interpreted that as an improvement.....I swear I can be so ditzy sometimes.
I understand how difficult your situation is (been there). I found it helpful to talk with the nurses when I made her status DNR....they helped validate my decision and see things objectively. I don't pray, but my heart goes out to you with a cyberhug and you can put me down for a casserole, as well.....a little shot of brandy wouldn't hurt either.

The "Cyber" horsdoeuvres are in the oven and I am preparing the open "Cyber" bar to go with the casseroles while we see nuangel2 through this.

thanks everyone .it has been real tough i made my mom cmo and put on morphine gtt yesterday .so now we all sit and wait .its very hard for me to watch .i have close friends cousin and boyfriend that are very supportive .i cry constantly and at a drop of the hat .i 'm not sleeping too good.just 1 week ago she was coming home now she never will and i just can't grasp that.and the endless decisions to be made ,i am soo very tired.i have been thru this with pts and family when i worked icu but its awful no matter how you look at it.well takecare evryone.

I am so very sorry. So sorry. I send you big hugs, Soft Puffs as I sit and stroke your hair. My heart goes out to you and your precious Mom.
There is nothing comparable to helping our patients and families through this and going through it personally. I pray much loving support comes your way thourgh this day and the days and weeks to come. Keep coming back, oh how I wish I could sit there with you as well.

thanks again .my mom passed away last evening at 715pm .we were with her and she went quietly in her sleep.still on mso4 drip.the hospital was very good to my mom. and everyone at the nh.was very nice also.my cousin went to the nursing home for me to pickup my moms belongings so i wouldn't have to .now i have to go thru the arangements.its hard with the holiday and we are getting a bad snow storm.and i am making the decisions on my own because my sister is no help.of course she didn't waste time asking me about money and my moms will though.oh well my mom is at peace now and i will do what needs to be done.takecare carolyn

I am so sorry, but what a blessing that you were able to make sure your mom went easy.
As for your sister; try to arrange to be with her for short intervals only, resist the urge to educate her or to try to make her into a human being. Answer her questions honestly but do not get into discussions, if she has complaints she can speak with a lawyer, you are not required to listen.
Believe me, everytime you smile and walk away will bring you that much more peace in the future.
