I think that when you sue a company for millions/billions of dollars, someone 'down the line' is going to pay. Yes, this is scary.

ITA it's scary, but what really scares me is the possibility of those diseases cropping up again
Yes, that is what is scary, but who can blame these companies for bailing.
I guess the government can always step in and give out contracts for producing the vaccines. We all know how well that works.
And who will sit on the jury - - NO health-care professionals, I'm sure. Only people who do not really understand all of the literature. i.e., since thimersol has been removed, autism continues to rise. Where's the link?
Please don't stop vaccinating against these potentially dangerous illnesses!
http://www.boston.com/news/globe/ide...risk_vaccines/ This really scares me. I'd like to know your opinions.
Opposition to the use of vaccines, along with various "reasons" for it, has been around as long as the use of the vaccines, themselves. Unfortunately, it is a bigger problem now thanks to the media (especially its presence everywhere) and the Great American Litigation.
Say, how come there wasn't a big rise in autism when we were growing up, given the amount of mercury we got exposed to?
Those of us who had most of the childhood diseases were eager to have our kids vaccinated against them. If the drug companies bail we'll be set back 40 to 50 years. I had whooping cough, measles, mumps, chicken pox and it wasn't fun but many others died.
I think litigation without real proof is a quandry. Uneducated (medically) jurors will see the autistic child and want him/her to be compensated and figure the drug companies have the bucks so let's find for the plaintiff, evidence or not. I've seen it in other medical cases. The few drug companies left making vaccines will stop.......
