Lived in R.I. Went to school at URI then moved to Florida. Have spent my nursing career in Florida except for the brief couple of months last year in Tennessee. Have done med-surg, pediatric, public health and now L & D.

Live, trained, work in Kansas City, MO. I have worked in blood banking, LTC, Correctional Nursing, and as an Independent Nurse Contractor with the State of MO leading a team to case manage adults w/ disabilities who want to live in their homes. I've done Doctor's office, community health, and consulting with an agency caring for adults w/ cerebral palsy. Now: School Nursing in an alternative, inner-city high school. But, looking for another job (school wants to save money, and get rid of some staff, including me!).

Hi! I'm new to the site and this is my first post.

Went to nursing school in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It recently occurred to me that our experience and perceptions are influenced by where we now live and/or where we have lived. Let's see where we have experienced life and work. I'll start.. pawhite - now, NE Florida past, SE Florida, Long Island, NYC, Mass.

Born in New Choizy, lived in CT through high school, moved to Miami, FL (6 mo in Israel,) then moved here to OH on the basis of a premonition that things were going to get worse in Miami (they did.)

Became a Nurse in 1993, went inactive for about 6 years, refreshed my license; have worked in med-surg, Alzheimer's, home-care, and various other positions (including apartment building managing) during my inactive period. Now have too many physical restrictions to do pt care (including psych - they expect you to be able to run.)

Hope to start a new job soon as a Nurse-consultant/marketer for a non-medical Senior Care company.

I was born in RI but grew up and lived in Florida (the Tampa Bay area) until two years ago we moved to the Atlanta area. I am certified in Wound and Ostomy care and I practice in home health. I start an NP program in the fall. It's really nice to see what everyone else is doing and has done in the past. Great thread!

Graduated and spent my entire nursing career on Long Island in ICU.

Now live about an hour North of Tampa surrounded by about one million trees Luna. Love how developers keep selling people on the 'beautiful woods, orange groves, pasture and ranch land' then cut them all the trees down, build beautiful homes and plant rows of palm trees. I don't get it!

Luna and Nursemommy - I was born in Fall River,Mass and had relatives in RI! Do you remember Evanovich? She knows exactly the house my mother used to live in on Weetamoe Street in FallRiver!!
