    Default legal nurse consultants

I am debating on taking a legal nurse consulting course and wonder if anyone out there has any experience in these courses or in this field.

Nope but the nurse in the ad looks like she's having a good time raking in the money.

I worked with a group of nurses , maybe 5,who did take the course - at a local University.

Not one managed to secure a full time positon as a LCN. Well, that is not entirey true. One, probably 5 or 6 years later, took a job with an company ( as an investigator that represented physicians in malpractice cases). They *used* to require a LNC. Changed their requirement - don't remember why - and hired my friend. It was just a stroke of luck that she had taken the course for LNC years before. But as I said, it was NOT required for the job. She said it came in VERY handy.

Also worked with a ED nurse who worked perdiem for an attorney as a legal nurse consultant - she reviewed charts - and she had NOT take the course.

Don't know if this helps. Do think any knowledge is valuable. Don't know if the cost is worth it.

    Good luck.

I have taken the course and believe in what I was taught. Nevertheless, I work in a hospital as a clinical educator. To find gainful employment in the legal field full time, you must either 1) know someone...an attorney to help you start OR 2) pay quite a bit for "business launching" packages. The cost in in the $1000's. It will teach you to "market yourself', etc. although there is NO Guarantee, of course. I have not succombed to this as yet and wonder if anyone has taken this type of course. Anyone care to comment? One is marketed by RNMARKET.COM. I did not attend the "big name" legal nurse consultant's course b/c I found one that taught MUCH MORE over a longer period of time for less money through a college. LOOK VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU SPEND. The smiling face and the promise of "BIG BUCKS" is mostly for the owner of the course.

hi--thank you for your shares. i have looked into the courses--but really don't have the $ to spend on it and looking at them all--i too believe it is a bit of a racket. i did, however, buy a couple of books through amazon--prinicipals of legal nurse conslting and marketing for lnc--i figure $125 tostart with isn't a bad investment.
i would like to maybe start a side business if possible, hopefully leading to a real job-we'll see--i've yet to crack open a book!
