    Default Michael-what happened to

Can you tell us what is happening with the wholesale deletion of posts and threads? I can see where reported posts that violate the TOS of the BB need to be pulled but lately entire threads with "good" posts have been pulled. People are getting discouraged and looking elsewhere for a free flow of exchange of ideas. What is up?

Thank you , Pam. Many of us have enjoyed the exchange of information and support that we have gotten here over the years. It has become our nursing message board of choice. It has been very sad to watch it become hijacked by someone's agenda during the past year.

I appreciate that you have a difficult job and wish to thank you for your efforts. At least now we know what is going on with the missing posts and will hang in there until the new format arrives. I would hate to have my cyber-friends leave in frustration.

Sorry for being so late to the party; I was only just this morning made aware of this thread. As one might imagine, I've been in the back room whipping up a new recipe of software for the site and, well, that has kept me off the site for some time.

We are very close to being able to showcase the new software; putting the final touches on it now, in fact. We're also working to bring over all the content from this site into the new one so nothing gets lost.

I can't speak to what's going on right now since I haven't been involved; but I would hope everyone would have faith that anything done is done with the best interests of our community as a whole in mind. I know I do.

Glad nothing will be lost from the site. And don't worry about being late to the party. You showed and that's what counts. It is very reassuring to know you, pammer and others are working on restoring this BB back to its former glory. This has been a great place to post over the last 6 or 7 years. It is a shame is has been reduced to its current state. But here's hoping to a newer better BB. Thanks for all of the attention you have given this matter. It is truly appreciated.

I think I'll have something for you all to try out within the next two weeks; we're working on the imports now and putting the finishing touches on the design. The new social networking features - which will include forums, photo galleries, blogs and chat - also have our new design, so will be an exciting launch for us.

It will get better, it's the people that make this place what it is and it's what keeps us coming back.

    pammer and Michael...

I truly appreciate your sensitivity and caring for our community here and I'm sure I speak for many others as well.

    Rock On!

Whatever you do is up to you and the others at Nurse.com, Michael. And it will hopefully be all good. But really, I guess idealistically I am hoping for balance and fairness. Don't need or want the drama really. Just good ole fashioned balance, fairness, proper boundaries and freedom for everyone equally...

When that ideal isn't supported and maintained, everyone loses out in the long run.

I look forward to seeing positive changes. I agree that we can do without the drama. As someone who has probably been around here the longest, I rarely visit or post anymore. As a nurse, I am embarrassed at the level to which this board as disintegrated and it is not just one particular poster. The back and forth squabbles are ridiculous. Make your point and move on.

Thoughts and ideas can be exchanged professionally and respectfully. Intelligent and mature adults should be able to discuss topics without the personal insults.

Having run several large communities over the past decade, I can tell you that there are some things that are givens:

    1) Change will always involve some kind of turnover; you have to do what you think is best for everyone and that in the process you will pick up more members than you will lose.
    2) "Drama" comes in waves - typically people get worked up about a subject and then back off for a time before the cycle starts again.
    3) People leave and people come back; we all need a break at times, hopefully they come back for the people and the entertainment/learning experience. I won't beg someone to stay on my site, in fact, if someone feels disenchanted I would tell them to take a break and come back with a fresh perspective.

The secret to a long term successful community is establishing a "reasonable" Code of Conduct and then working to apply it evenly. You may think you would prefer no "mooderation", but you'd be mistaken to think that would get you a better site - we'd lose more members than we would gain by doing so. It doesn't make sense to flip out when you see people acting in the best interest of the site; just go with the flow and take from here what you put into it.

I don't want to see anyone leave or be kicked out; but these are things that are going to happen or are beyond my control. There are alternatives out there; we want to distinguish ourselves as being "Nurse-friendly" and promote a healthful environment that seeks to minimize the Smack and "noise" found on so many other websites.

This is our little sandbox; can't we all just play nice?

Glad that I didn't miss the party either. I've got a good stuffed mushroom recipe (if I can find it) Glad there will be some moderation. Didn't like having my faith put in question because I dissagreed with another poster. (I was told I couldn't possibly be a Christian because I disagreed with with her on the abortion issue) Oh well, everybody has an opinion, lets just limit the name calling and the acusations pls. Like Michael said , it's our little sand box. We're here to talk about nursing, politics or what ever. Don't throw sand because you disagree.

I hate getting hit with sand...and I hate it when it gets in the good food and beverages.

Yep...it's all very true. If you don't throw sand, I will even share my umbrella. One thing seem true though...no matter what you do, eventually that beach ball is just going to take off and not come back. Had to stop taking them to the beach/ b/c they'd go out to sea for sure. Sometimes it is true for the volley balls too. Now I am reminded of Tom Hanks in castaway...poor ole Wilson. I haven't named my beach balls though... *grin*
