Thinking of a new career in something medical

Hi,

I'm a newbie here. In a nutshell, I finished my Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, and was planning on going to work as a Barn Manager/instructor. I caught a virus (this was 4 years ago) which left me with permanent neurological problems and stomach/intestinal paralysis.

I'm finally recovered enough to start working again, but I will need to go into an entirely different career. My back up plan was to go to vet school, but I don't have the money for that, and vet tech doesn't pay anything. I need to be able to pay my bills while only working part time, as I am not certain I will be able to handle a 40 hour work week.

I was thinking something medical... Radiology technician, ultrasound tech or something like that. I don't think I can handle 12 hour shifts so nursing may be out... And what would be a good entry level job that can hold me over til I can go back to school? Something to sort of get my foot in the door?

I know all about basic wound care, injections (as far as animals are concerned)... I have taken a lot of science classes. So how difficult will it be to get into the medical technician programs? Or should I go for a Bachelor's since I already have some of the core classes?

It will depend on where you will take the medical course. It would be great if you would take a Bachelor's degree but there are also two year courses that you can take first. It will depend on your financial capability and how much time can you really spare.
