    Default Mental Health Nursing

I've been out of nursing for many years, and refreshed recently. I will be working in a mental health day and residential facility, per diem. My 20 years of experience is in critical care and trauma. Does anyone have any good literature regarding mental health and teens, or any books to suggest I start with?

Hey there! It sounds like you have a solid nursing experience! My 20+ experience has been primarily in mental health & substance abuse. I have also been out of nursing for a number of years & anxious at the prospect of re-entry. I would recommend a comprehensive text book on Psych nursing such as "Principles & Practice of Psychiatric Nursing by Stuart & Sundeen, it is a Mosby book.
I used that particular book when teaching a psych nursing field class. Good Luck! I think you are courageous to re-enter a new area of nursing!
