Thread: Work from home?

    Exclamation Work from home?

Hi. I have been researching working from home as an RN. There are many options but all seem to want experience other than bedside nursing. I have applied for utilization review and telecommute positions. Does anyone have any suggestions? I desperately want to work from home.

    THANK YOU!!!

Hi, have you checked out a company that was called Med Assurant ,now Inovalon? You do have to go out to clinics, offices, etc and do chart review, but they also have reviews online you can do from home.

    Lightbulb Uncompensated work hours

Hi, When you check out MedAssurant/Inovalon be sure to take note of how much uncompensated time you will be spending. If that doesn't bother you, then it may be a good option. I worked with MedAssurant and when I factored in all of my hours, it was not worth it to me. I could make just as much money being a customer service call taker for a retail store.

The chart review online would be on charts first reviewed by the field staff. You generally cannot start reviewing online unless you have previous field experience. At least that was how it was when I was with MedAssurant.

I suggest you remove your resume with all your personal contact information. You are putting yourself in danger doing so.

    Hi.

I have heard of some home based jobs but I don't think the job is related to nursing. Commonly, home based jobs involve website optimization.

One of the best ways to work from home is to engage in a business! why not consider being an nurse entrepreneur? Capitalize on your interest!

There are many insurance companies that I have seen on indeed.com needing "case managers" or "field managers'. Many of them will let you work from home after a stint in the office. A few have put in "remote" and then the title. Go to that site and see if you can find anything. Travelers. Hanover. Genex. Cigna. there are many.

If you are desperate to work from home you COULD look into starting your own agency. You could copy the ideas of senior care agencies to doing hospital staffing. If you have some neighbors/friends who are looking for work you could start by having them do Elder Care, a non-nursing position. There are a lot of books on starting such an business. If you don't want to have an office outside of your home, but don't ant strangers coming to your home, there are "executive suites". These are shared offices where you have access to very nice office rooms which you schedule as needed and you share a receptionist who can answer your business phone for you!

Seriously, and you are an LPN. I am looking at my resume and yours and I am trying to figure out how you have 2 jobs and I don't have 1. You left BCLS out of your resume, assuming that you have it

Posting resume here is a risk, you can do so in PM. Anyways, check out some websites for outsourcing jobs for nurses, I guess those mentioned above are reliable.
