I am a nursing student at Purdue University Calumet in Hammond, Indiana. I am working on my BSN and this will be my first degree. I am currently finishing my first clinical and I have about 2 years to go. I am 49 years old and I have been divorced for 9 years. My youngest son is a junior in high school. I have had several careers in my life and was not satisfied with any of them. I sold real estate for a while and also insurance just to name two. My last career was also in real estate. I was self employed as a certified signing agent. I started that right after my divorce and it was very profitable until the mortgage industry took such a hit around 2007. Also in 2007 I met a wonderful man, Randy, we dated for a while and he then moved in with me. In April of 2009 he was diagnosed with mesothelioma. I was not getting much work at that time because of the economy which was okay because I was Randy's primary care giver and was right by his side through his surgeries and treatments. There were times that I was very satisfied with the medical care he received and there were other times that I was very, very dissatisfied with his care. I had always wanted to go to college but did not know what I wanted to study. Suddenly I knew exactly what I wanted to be. Randy passed away in 2010 and I enrolled at Purdue. I am a very serious student and it is my hope that through this site, I can both give and receive help, encouragement and insight. I look forward to sharing my experiences with all of you.
