Hello Everyone!

I decided to finally write something here and be an active member of this website. Mainly my post will be about the future of new grads in today's economy. So on the beginning I would like to introduce myself; my name is Magdalena and I became a Registered Nurse in May 2012. Words couldn't describe how I felt when I finally graduated from the nursing school I attended in New York. The program was really intense. I had to learn how to manage my time to complete all assignments while still find time to study for the exams which were back to back with only 2 days apart. There has been times where I did not even see my husband for two weeks because school became my second house. But I am sure that this sounds familiar to all of us this means folks who already graduated or are currently in nursing school.
Walking out of school I was prepared for the fact that the economy is bad, but I didn't know that it is that bad?!??!?. Almost everywhere I apply new grads are not welcome? MY QUESTIONS IS WHY?? Almost all jobs require "that one year of experience" excuse me but how can I get it if no one is willing to hire a new grad? Where can I get that "one year" they really want? I sent out large amount of resumes, applied to many hospitals and clinics, 7 months has passed by and still nothing. I mean really? Knowing how hard I have worked for my license and now I cant even practice in my profession because new grads are not welcomed? Scary part is that in just 2 months there is another wave of new grads and I just feel bad for all of us, because we put blood, sweat and tears to pass these programs and to get that in return is just really sad.
I hope that there is someone out there who understands where I am coming from. Wish you all best of luck
