Move to CA, you will find better work opportunities there. You can even use glassdor.com for finding work opportunities.

it's really hard stay in a job if you're not happy. Why not take a break for a while?

Do you at least like being a nurse? I mean there are other options. I was not too crazy about home health care agencies either so don't feel bad. I was fortunate to have had some really cool clients but other than that home health care was alot of driving, no health benefits, and not enough money in paycheck to cover gas milege and wear and tear on vehicle. It's one of those area's of healthcare where you really have to be in a financial position to do it. I ended up going into Nursing Home work. It is very diff and it kind of stinks to be the new gal but health benefits and your in the same building so it saves you ...I suppose at they end of the day you have to do what is best for you. Good luck!

Go for travel in short assignments 2-3 months.

Choose a location that you love, go and explore and have fun....and move one to another one...you will regain passion for life and nursing, trust me!

Plus you will meet new people new places...but no more than two assignments because you will become bored again....or cached in dirty politics...or you will wish to marry there and stay forever lol...move one....enjoy life!

I have had my nursing license for 25 years now. I have a BSN degree. I hate hands on nursing! I quit hands on nursing in 1997 and will NEVER go back.
There are way too many problems with nursing that I will never return to hands on. I have been a case manager in various roles now for many years.

Nurses are NOT respected in many many places. This is one BIG problem. Unlike many professions, nurses are treated as a red headed step child in many organizations. I left hands on nursing because I could not stand the disrespect by both the nursing administrators, and the doctors.

Doctors treat nurses like second or third class citizens in so many ways. While, many nurses often know more that a doctor.

Nurses are notoriously expected to take care of too many patients to be safe for the patient and the nurse.

I remember the tipping point that sent me over the edge on day back in 1997, was the fact

Job satisfaction is rare in this world. So it would be better, try to establish own business. As a nurse, you may easily establish a day care center or old home.

Are you not happy with being a nurse in general or is it the location you are at, or the people you work with ?

Scottya...first you need to clarify "not happy with job" what means for you. Define it!

Not happy with: what you do there, colleagues, politics, distance..may be personal reasons.

Many could be handle easy...other will be not change AT ALL , lol. Be smart and think! Make a paper write the motives and next day think on them.

Is easy to take a short not thinking enough decision to move on but IS THE LAST solution advised you to do....

Everywhere is quite the same good and bad points are in different number but the proportion is quite the same lol.

IS NOT ABOUT YOUR JOB, the job is ok...is about THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM in US...IT IS NOT OK and because of it is a lot of screw up!

If you want to change something CHANGE THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM style, and then will be not like now! And may be who know...may be you will be happy! Good luck!
