Hello My name is Nellie. I have been a nurse for almost 12 years (will be on 4/13) proudly. I worked in hospitals for over 5 years and home health for about 5 and half years, I returned back to the hospital in 7/12. I regretfully do so. The hospital setting is not like it use to be. The patient nurse ratio has increased to 6:1. Personally, this does not allow nursing to provide good quality care. I have been doing ok but not really doing the nursing to my expectations. I am use to spending time with the patient taking my time teaching on the disease process, wound care, etc.... At the hospital this is quite difficult and I find myself trying harder than I ever had with time management. I am very happy to have the opportunity to share this with other nurses who may have or had the same frustrating experiences I am having.
