Jobs for new grads?

I graduated in June, and still haven't managed to find a job. I've only had three interviews - and a lot of rejection form letters. I've called different places and spoken directly to the recruiters. I have applied for jobs in three different states. Everyone wants experience, but how can I get experience if nobody will hire me?

Getting very frustrated. How long did it take everyone else to find that first job?

It take one and a half year to my brother to get a good job for himself.

You mean 18 months to find a job as an RN? Good grief, what about all those "everyone needs nurses" ads that used to run on tv all the time! Three years ago, when I first went back to school, many of the graduates had jobs waiting for them. Would a BSN even make a difference?

I feel for you and thousands of newly graduated nurse. There isn't a nurses shortage now and never was. I was told the same thing in the 70's when I graduated. The problem is supply and demand. No demand and too many new grads. I think ethically the nursing schools should be held accountable for miss-leading information.

Many, many experienced nurses realize that the demand is going to be elsewhere and for a limited period. This is why travel nursing has become a real alternative for them, and could be a good idea for fresh graduates. It does require a period of absence from your hometown, depending on the longevity of your stay, but it provides real experience and great pay, benefits, and tax breaks. be patient and try to submit as many application as you can.. i think the demand for nursing declined due to the decline of economy and the number of graduates is way more than the number of job vacancy every year..
