New Grad Considering Working for a Registry as a Travel Nurse
Hi! I'm stuck in a 'New-Grad-But-Not-The Newest-Grad' situation and it's starting to take its toll on me. I graduated in June 2011 and got my license a year ago and yet I still haven't landed a full-time RN position. I've been working as a Home Health RN for a couple of months now, however the assignments are coming in too sporadically. So after having modified my cover letter for the hundredth time, filling my desktop with different versions of my resume, and getting blunt advice from recruiters about not getting a shot because of my lack of paid hospital experience...<breathe>...I finally decided to go fishing--I posted my resume on a job website. I'm being recruited by a registry as a Traveler.
I know as a Traveler I have to be ready to hit the ground running, but I want to get a clearer picture of what to expect should I take an assignment in a hospital. So any Travel Nurses out there, please describe the type of orientation you've had on your assignments or paint a picture of what a day in the life of a Travel Nurse looks like.
