Default Board ordered nurse: Abnormal UA

I've completed almost a year worth of ua's with 2 more to go! My most recent ua returned "abnormal." The medical review officer stated that my urine was not a human sample because my creatinine level was 0.9! Either I'm sick or someone tampered with my sample! I need all the advice I can get! Thanks in advance!

Why not just have the facility that tested your UDS do another? Aren't all UDS's done under very controlled circumstances anyway? I know from my own experience, as a part of the routine pre-employment screening/physical these samples are taken/tested under very precise and controlled conditions; I've never had an eye off my sample. . . Ask for another test, what can they say, "No?" I don't think that if you volunteered, they would refuse the request. Or, perhaps go to another independent facility and have a specimen tested yourself; i.e., a second opinion; then provide the individuals requesting those results. . .simple.

Thanks for responding NurseDetroit. It seems that the MRO & the BON prejudged me before exhausting other options. I was immediately "told" that the sample I submitted was not human, and there was "no way" a human's creatinine could have been "that low." I begged to differ, but they both insisted that my sample was synthetic or an animal's urine!

I feel offended, violated, and not to mention humiliated! I have no pets, no reason to lie, but they won't listen. They didn't even consider the fact that I could be really sick. I will be seeing a nephrologist this week to determine if in fact that I have kidney issues. If so, I will be bringing a lawyer on board for the defamation and false accusations made towards my innocence and consistent progress!

Thanks again for your expedient feedback!

I see that this post is over a year old and hopefully the issue is resolved by now. That is the most ridiculous accusation I have ever heard.....How the heck do they think she got her "dog" to pee in the cup???? Just saying...

    Hello RNretiree,
This situation just happened a month or so ago. Just to bring you up to speed, I was summoned to have 2 separate blood tests, a hair test, and several more ua's. Of course, they all returned negative, but the board still decided to take disciplinary action provided that any further tests returned "abnormal." It just seems to me that they want us to fail! I've had previous tests to return "abnormal" due to my creatinine levels being "off." I guess I drank too much water! I feel that their decision was a proposed "threat" and that I would have to "pay" regardless of the outcome!

    P.S. I don't have a dog! Go figure...

Looking back in hindsight, I can only recall drinking Organo Gold Tea (one cup) every morning leading up to this "abnormal ua." Question, do you think that the tea had something to do with elevating urine creatinine levels?
