Parkinsons Disease

Hi there,

I used to post on this website several years ago and now am back. I"ve been Peds RN for 26 yrs, with some minimal experience with adults. I have been taking care of my mom in my home for over 2 yrs now. She has Parkinsons disease and has a quickly progressive form of it.

I will need to find nursing home placement for her soon. Her care is becoming too much for me for many reasons. Do any of you have any suggestions for starting this search? I am going to start by talking to her primary, then a consult with an elder care lawyer to discuss the financial aspects. I do not have any siblings, so am the only family member left to deal with all of this. It's overwhelming.

I was just wondering if any of you have any words of wisdom as Geriatric RNs, or personal experience w/a family member.
