Default Just need some quick advice - Thank you

    Hello

My name is Kevin and I am a prospective RN. Currently a Fire/Medic in CA. Will be applying to nursing programs soon. Need some advice! I hope to stay in emergency/trauma either in the hospital or in the field.

To all new RNs and Seasoned RNs:
Question: Does it matter where you get your nursing education (as long as it's accredited) in terms of employment?

I know some nursing programs are affiliated with hospitals and "feed" mainly their nurses into them for employment.

Do employers place a large emphasis on program ranking? Or is it more by experience?

Thanks and have a great day
    Kevin

With your background as "Fire/Medic" you'd be the perfect fit in anyone's ER setting. Go for an accredited program, one that is affordable, then get the license. Ultimately "rankings" of a given institution won't matter that much; ER Certifications/training do; go for all those required. Good luck in all your endeavors. . .

Ranking matters if you are for one of the TOP ones...first 3-5, or if you want to pursue an academic carrier after....for a regular nurse or a nurse with an already setup background hystory like you is ok any affodable accreditated one. And depend where you see yourself in 5-10 years, about your personality and many others.."networks" life values, adaptability...choose one wher you fell comfortable with. Good luck!
