Hello Nurses!! Any advice about legal nurse consultant education? Very intersted in this type of nursing. I have reached out to my professor from nursing school. She gets a lot of legal nurse consultant jobs since she has been a nurse forever. I have a BSN currently. Wondering if it's worth it do get certified and if I should have an MSN?

Hello,
I have a law degree and was thinking about the legal nurse consultant route. I would think the more education and certifications one has, the better. I think if you can take a paralegal course or some legal courses, it could only help. I would check out the legal nurse consultant website and see if there are jobs in your area. Why get all the education if there are no jobs around?

I have looked into this myself. Legal nurse consultants are kind of like paralegals with medical background. A lot of universities offer certifications, but I think you need strong networking skills to break into the scene. I've considered it for extra money but haven't pursued it as of yet. Who knows.
