Hello, I am in the process of completing my prerequisites for nursing. I am considering applying into an ADN program to get me through college faster and hopefully find a position within a hospital setting. I currently reside in the north and my husband & I are wanting to relocate in the southern states once I graduate.
I have been looking at a few job sites, many want at least a years experience, yet I am curious if the clinical practicums that are in our program can be considered as experience. With that in mind, I started looking into how many actual clinical hours are provided with different programs. WOW!! what a huge difference in programs. Does anyone know if a university/college associate degree hold up the same as a hospital based associate degree. It seems that the hospital based programs offer many more clinical hours and less "sharing" of patients. The consideration of the increased amount of clinical experience makes me want to go the hospital associate degree and then go on to complete my BSN online from there.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
THANK YOU.
