    Default Nurse Anesthetist

Hello everyone, I am a sophomore in a BSN program. I am interested in becoming a nurse anesthetist, but I have heard different things as to what I would have to do once I graduate from this program. I have heard that I will have to take the MCAT, as well as work 6 months to a year in a high stress environment. I was wondering what I would have to complete in order to be accepted into a program for this profession?

I would contact the schools with the program and meet with an advisor to discuss the requirements. Good luck!

I am also interested in becoming a nurse anesthetist. I have heard that most programs would like you to have work experience for a year or two before beginning the program. I also assume there is some kind of standardized test in order to be accepted into the program but I have never heard about having to take the MCAT!

It depends on the school(s) you plan on applying to. They all have pretty much similar requirements but some do have a few different stipulations. For example, most require at least 1 year of critical care. Some schools will accept on ICU or CCU but some will accept Emergency room as well. Google CRNA and there's an awesome website that has every school listed as well as their requirements. Good luck

I have heard of schools even favoring 2 years of critical care.
