Default Whats the fast track to travel nursing?

I know that the common route is to get at least 1-2 years of med-surg under the belt before going into critical care (at least that's what i'm taught), but my future plans involve travel nursing and eventually a CRNA program. And these both require like 18-24 months of ICU experience. If it takes me four years before moving on to travel nursing or entering a CRNA program I'm afraid I might accidently get married which would really rain on my parade.

    So my question is...
Whats the fastest way to become a traveling nurse after graduating a BSN program?

    Bonus Question...
Anybody who has more information on the way travel nursing contracts are drawn up will really help me out. Are the contracts consecutive? Like immediately after one ends am I assigned another one or can I put say 1-2 months in between accepting new contracts? Can someone tell me how much say you have over your assignments? I know you get preferences, but thats pretty vague to me and I think some examples would really help me out.

I've just started my second travel nurse job in case management. I've been a RN for 22 years in OR and NICU and the last 7 years in UR/CM. My orientation was 1-2 days and that's it. So if you are not competent in figuring things out for yourself such as using equipment and process/documentation, you won't do well. It doesn't have anything to do with having a BSN. It is about competency and proficiency. As far as contracts, you give your start date with some flexibility. About a month before your contract ends you request your next assignment from the contracts available. If you want to go to Naples, FL and there is not a contract available, then you are not going to Naples, FL. You choose from what is available. My first recruiter got a start date from me and then didn't make an effort to get me a job. I had quit my job thinking I would start 2 weeks later and finally started 6 weeks after that. So don't quit your job until you have signed a contract - you should have enough time to give notice before you start. Good luck!

available travel nurse jobs and apply online. Here's there website that details the specifics on traveling nursing
the prerequisites needed to apply for a job in this field.
