For our nurses week treats this year we got notice of unit closings/restructuring, 195 RN's displaced who then had to rebid jobs, nurses bumped from fulltime to parttime jobs as the number of fulltime and weekend postitions are being slashed, 7 RN layoffs, being told if we don't like it we can leave and having all of our clerks and PCT's having to rebid their positions as well. On top of that that the new MAK medication system that we are learning will keep track of any mistakes we make and IT WILL BE USED AGAINST YOU! Happy Freaking Nurses Day. I don't know how I am going to stay in nursing until I can retire, I am so tired of all these corporate types not knowing squat about nursing and only looking out for the almighty dollar.

Hi, I'm new here. I am an older "newer nurse" (almost 8 years). I have worked only on an med-surge floor and if I had known what it would be like I would have driven a school bus! I love the patient care, just not the incredible stress. I am finally actively looking for a new job. I only work part time now and hope to find a position with no weekends or holidays (guess that's everyone). I have 4 grown children and 6 grandchildren, one brand new, that I want to spend time with.
I have an appt tomorrow at an allergy clinic. Have thought about Oncology-hemotology outpatient care. Would love a clinic for part-timers. Would love to be a Parish Nurse, but those few jobs don't usually pay.
Hopefully waiting.

Hi everyone,

I'm currently an RN with almost 2 years experience; one year in med/surg and the rest in critical care. I'm interested in applying to an Adult Nurse Practitioner program however, one of the requirements is a statement of goals and objectives. I am still learning and really unsure where I want to be in the future regarding my career. The reason I've become interested in an NP program is I'm finding myself very intrigued by the diagnostic side of things, how the DR determines how the plan of care will be. Therefore, my question is what kind of goals and objectives are programs looking for?

Thanks!
