Disaster in Haiti

Rate this Entry
I'm sure all of us are watching the scenes of chaos, destruction, and suffering in Haiti and wondering how to help. I suggest checking out the Project Hope website at http://www.projecthope.org/ and checking out the volunteer opportunities if you're in a position to pick up stakes and leave home and can offer the type of expertise needed.

Nurse.com, Nursing Spectrum, and NurseWeek will be following relief efforts closely. Please send news and photos about nurses deployed to Haiti, along with contact information to us at newsdesk@gannetthg.com.

The school where I teach has 4 faculty members who got back from Haiti 2 days before the quake. We volunteer at a hospital in Northern Haiti (Milou) and the small 74 bed hospital is gearing up for victims from Southern Haiti. It's just been nearly impossible to get them to Hopital Sacre Cour due to impassable roads- if anyone makes it, they'll have to be helicoptered. We are so sad for our colleagues and friends. If considering donations, look at the website: www.crudem.org.
