A poem of Stroke

Rate this Entry
With empathy to a stroke patient who for sometimes I saw tears dripping down his cheeks.
This was how he presented his symptoms and came to 8W Stroke Unit.
I wrote his history through a poem.
Thelma Mendoza, RN ‘09

I have trouble speaking
and difficulty understanding
My wife said I was confused
and my left face was a bit droop.

At once I sought medical attention
where I underwent neurological examination
Ct scan of the head was well conducted
to rule out stroke I have suspected.

Some of the symptoms slowly disappeared
my wife and I have wondered.
“Do I have stroke or something?”
will I lose everything?”

MRI, MRI, I have to undergo
to see my brain in detailed view.
Now it’s clear to me what I’ve been through
a stroke caused by clot that made me feels blue.

Thanks, Thelma. Maybe other poets will want to publish their work here, too. I know there are a lot of nurse poets out there.
