non clinical job position?

Rate this Entry
I am looking for a career change out of the clinical setting? I currently work as an operating room nurse with 10 years experience. I am the primary provider for my household my husband lost his job and he cares for our son at home. Unfortunately any job I take has to revolve around money. Any ideas of a nursing career that pays around 70K or more a year? I have done travel nursing and that pays really well but I have a 2 yr old now. Everyone suggest I do pharmacy/medical sales , however I am not good at role playing? (Being in the operating room I see many reps and think I could do that job-the operating room part but not sure about "out of the operating room part"? Any ideas?

    Hello,

Have you tried to be a representative for a surgical company? A surgical company produces s surgical instruments, materials, etc for the hospitals or outpatient surgical units. They need representatives to give presentations & demonstrations to the surgical team/doctors. Sometimes the representative is present during the surgical procedure to assist in the size of the product or give instructions to the surgeon for maneuver of the product and to promote the product as well as finding out the surgical procedures being perform within the medical facilities. Therefore, the salary of the representatives varies from commission, rate, experience, nurse, and nurse’s background, etc.

Try to call around to the companies for vacancies and apply.

Pharmaceutical companies and other medical companies could be considered in your occupational seeking too.

The Corporate businesses have health wellness clinics within their business and they do hire nurses. However, the positions are hard to locate and to apply too. I do not know enough information to assist you to begin. I began at the largest companies in the USA and I was unsuccessful.

The Outpatint Surgical Units of Same Day could be a possibility. The contract can be adjusted by the representative of the Outpatient Surgical Unit and yourself. Develop a contract of the hours, days, salaries and etc. for future employers and for yourself. Have a business person or a lawyer (charges and can rip you off) look at it and notarize it. You will be your own Company, INC. providing your skills and knowledge to them. Look for examples of contracts on line or a library. The only part is you must carry your own malpractice insurance. Or use the contract as a guide for the main points to say in the interview. I have seen it done both ways.
Therefore, negation the essential needs for you as well as compromise to meet the outcomes of the medical facilities.

This economy has restricted many choices for every occupation in the USA. Be careful of switching occupations because nothing is guarantee for medical personnel to federal government.

Good Luck in your search for the occupation to meet your family and personal needs.
