Barbecue Express Part VI: ‘We Believe’ bus trip arrives home

Rate this Entry
Connie Kerins, RN arrived in Oakland, Calif at 6 am yesterday morning [Sunday, 1/25] after completing the round trip coast-to-coast “We Believe” bus trip to the inauguration of Barack Obama.

“I really have to say that for being in such close quarters for 10 days and 6,000 miles I think we did very well. We had 3 mechanical failures and 2 medical emergencies but it was worth every second.” said Kerins.

“I was meant to witness this inauguration. I will never forget that I was there. People told me that it was my destiny to be on the trip to help with the people who became seriously ill. To me that was important but incidental. For me the journey was a pilgrimage and it was a life-altering event. It was the journey of a lifetime. And it was the inauguration itself and the people who I shared it with who I will never forget.”

I want to thank Connie Kerins, RN for sharing her journey with me and the readers of nurse.com.- LauraG.
