    Hello everyone,

I recently passed my licensure exam, I am looking for some input on how I can get started with my nursing career. I am a foreign graduate nurse with a BSN. I practiced nursing from my home country a few years ago. I am now ready to start my nursing career here in the US, I am hoping someone could give me some input on how I can get started? I would like to update my basic nursing skills- how can I go about doing this? How can I make myself a good prospective employee? ...

I am almost 40, a mom of two young children, and became an RN in March of this year. I hold a BA and received an ADN. I have had a hard time finding a job in NJ, hospitals, they want experience. I send resumes with no response. I have even began knocking on doctor offices doors. I began substitute school nursing and love it BUT now I need to go back to get a certificate..These certificate programs require a BSN or you have to take 3 prerequisites before you can start the program or you need ...

  3. Mommy Duties

I am a nurse and a stay at home mom as well. Aside from that I enjoy learning interior designing of homes and doing some crafty work of art.

What I really liked about nursing even if I am not practicing the profession is that it can be applied to almost any aspect of life. I never regret being a nurse because it really has helped me with everything from the moment I had a baby to cleaning the house. Just merely choosing the products in cleaning shower doors I know which is good or ...

I have a patient who is over 80 and being seen for anxiety, OCD about cleanliness, and depression. I am at a loss on what to do for her.

SITUATION: Patient needs help in ambulating and is a self professed "night owl" and sleeps only 4 hours a night. Her son fearful of his mother falling again stays awake with her and works a FT job in the day. In one case the son took his mother to the bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth, while doing this the son falls asleep ...

  8. Boost Energy Levels

…So I have been struggling with my own sleep and energy lately. I am not sure of the cause for my disrupted sleep as I have not changed much in my life. I also am not saying my sleep is terrible; I just am aware it can be better. So since about my birthday,I have noticed that I am sort of awake at night. And what I mean by that is, even though I am asleep and sleep well for the most part, when I turn from one side to the other shifting positions I am conscious of it. I can literally feel myself ...

  9. Introducing Myself

    Hi there,
I am a nurse and a coach. I have worked in psychiatry, community health nursing, and wellness education. I am interested in topics relating to nurses well-being, self-care, and balance because as a nurse I struggled with these issues. But after a lot of healing and self-work I have been through some major shifts. I now am interested in hearing about other nurses journeys to wellness and health and am passionate about creating space for nurses to be well, take time for themselves, ...

  11. New To Knoxville and looking for a part-time job

    Hello,

I have just tranferred from Florida with my husband. I am looking for a part-time job in the area. I am not interested in travel jobs. I have most recently worked as a Case Manager for a hospice. Does anyone know of a local job with 8 hour shifts, maybe a doctor's office, etc? I have had back surgery and am limited as far as strenuous or hospital work.

    Thanks,

    Joan

  13. School Nursing Again!

As a retired certified school nurse, a wonderful job I had for 23 years, I need to comment on the recent article as well as to joe155-elk_1, I applaud Joe for his service in the ED and as a paramedic. The major differences between a PROFESSIONAL level school nurse and other nurses is the ability to deal with medical and psychiatric issues WITHOUT any medical equipment but a stethoscope and a flashlight. School nurses must be able to determine whether the child with asthma needs the parent to pick ...

  14. symphysiotomies

I had a symphysiotomy in 1982 for trapped shoulders at Kaiser Permanente in Vallejo, CA. A LD nurse from Walnut creek Kaiser said they're known as "vaginal c-sections. Is this procedure done anymore? 29 years later a physical therapist detected my hips are asymmetical. A 1/4" heel lift in my left shoe makes my hips symmetrical. I also had 8 sessions on pelvic stabilization exercises. Anyone had any experience with this procedure?
